The Bertinet Kitchen

A few Saturdays back I was lucky enough to visit Bath and attend a wonderful cookery course at The Bertinet Kitchen with my mummy. I wanted to share the photos of the lovely day we had and the scrummy food we made:

Bath was beautiful in the English sunshine and the Bertinet Kitchen was tucked away down a lovely little cobbled street. We arrived to a spread of fresh orange juice, strawberries, tea, coffee and these little cherry almond cakes called Dodos which were to die for! (I think I ate about 5!!)

After donning our aprons and washing our hands the cooking and baking could begin. Our teacher for the day was a lovely lady called Claudine – she was raised in France which meant she was more than qualified to teach the French Bistro course we were on! First up to make were these delicious puff pastry nibbles called Palmiers, filled with tapenade and sun-dried tomatoes.

For starter we made a goats cheese, bacon and olive tart with a red onion marmalade… yum, yum and yum! For main course roast duck was on the menu served with a sour cherry sauce and amazing garlic and rosemary potatoes.

And finally for pudding we infused lavender with cream to make the yummiest crème brûlée I’ve ever had. We got to eat all the food we made and got given a wonderful recipe pack each so that we can re-create the menu again at home. It was such a lovely thing to do with my mummy, we chatted away whilst whisking, chopping, kneading and rolling and just had fun being together with the added bonus of learning to cook some special food in the process.

Thanks mummy for taking me, I had a wonderful time!
